Suppose (despite shorter-term appearances), existence is neither transactional nor hierarchical, and separation is an illusion designed to allow an omnipotent/present/scient benevolence to have linear experiences from infinite perspectives (because if it remained confined to its native omnipotence/presence/science it would be everything everywhere all at once, and would have nowhere to go, nothing to learn, nothing to become, and nothing to overcome).

If existence is mystical and transcendental, maybe we’re the equivalent of leaves (space-time-bound perspectives), sprouting from branches (higher/deeper selves, unbound by linearity, but still guided by desire for specific experiences) connected to the trunk (the omnipotent/present/scient core).

If that’s the case, I might be engaged in an experiential game (hide and seek, if you will), between myself and Myself. In any given round, the challenge would be to realize it’s a game, using clues left by Myself. Then–since I’m navigating a specific experience as a unique individual–I would try and figure out my own unique way to harmonize with my deeper aspects.

Might want to consider the Original Eight, and where your own soul might fall on that staff.

I am unfortunately an expression of 8. That much is plain.

  5. Love this perspective. Once again, you’ve brought something up that causes me pause and the necessity for further analysis. Thanks Kent!

  8. A self-realizing leaf. We live in a parallel universe, I see. I think, if like the leaf, a become hyperaware of my place and time, I would also seek means of subterfuge to try and prolong my existence. For example, let all the other leaves tackle me in a neighborhood game of rugby.

  9. I quite loved this! I think we tend to over-identify with our “leaf” selves and forget about or disconnect from the idea that we’re attached to branches and trunks. One way to overcome this is to reconnect to the desire of the branch, the thing which propelled us into existence in the first place. As I go through my meditations trying to reconnect to my life force energy, I’ll be thinking about your amazing analogy. Thanks!

    1. Identification with the leaf self is like seasoning–everyone likes a bit of salt and pepper, but no one wants it to drown out the entree

  10. I think that the illusion of separation is similar to wave-particle duality, where observation alters behavior in a way that fits what is expected, because the observer and observed are on the same level. Mybe the trunk is the one that observes the observer, the cracks and the wave.
    Thank you for this reflection!

I so enjoyed reading your ponderings! Ruminating and just playing around with the ideas of existence.

    Some of my musings 💭:

First, I just like to learn and have no degrees; please keep that in mind as reading, so take your grains of salt 🧂😊.

I think that existing in space-time can occur in three ways (at least):

1.) Reminiscing such that the same neural pathways that fired upon making a memory are once more fired in the same sequence (I believe similar things happen with deja vu).

2.) Being present such that one can connect with nature or tap into one’s mirror neurons (I believe the mirror neurons are located near the prefrontal cortex). Mirror neurons are said to affect one’s ability to truly empathize with those around oneself or even the media that one is consuming.

3.) Ruminating about what is to come so much so that one’s brain simulates whatever one is ruminating over (I believe this is why “mindset shifting” is touted as much as it is: it ~may~ help reduce self-inflicted toxic stress.

    What does anyone/everyone think?

Also, DirtySciFiBuddha, if I make a blog post expanding upon the above, may I link to this blog post of yours?
I am new to blogging, and I do not know the proper etiquette of cross-linking or referring to another’s blog post, so feel free to deny as you see fit.

😊 Happy posting in this wacky existence!
