I think of challenges as dips in the road. If I hit them at the right angle and speed, I get to fly for a bit, maybe shift over onto a better track. I also might crash and get stuck, but maybe I can dig up a diamond or find something cool on the pavement beneath me.

Is that foolish? Maybe. False? Possibly. All I knows that it makes life much more enjoyable for me.

    1. Thanks! Yes, the appeal of cynicism–that I get to minimize my disappointment–is still a disappointment.

  4. I agree with that 100 percent. It is after all your way of doing things that makes you who you are whether right or wrong.

    1. I like to just leave it open for pleasant surprises. Maybe I’ll stumble onto a better way to interpret it, or a better outlook altogether…

I’ve had a week like that this week. On Monday, I snapped the tiller on my sailing boat and the world came crashing down on me for a minute. By today, I am about to start lacquering a brand new tiller I’ve been steadily working on throughout the week. It should be ready by the time I’m ready to go sailing again next week.

    1. It’s definitely a bummer when it happens. I’m glad you got things back up to speed. Happy sailing!

  10. keep having fun! in the very least, an optimistic perspective can help you see opportunities and also, it can help you act faster on gut feel than another person that may be more restrained in their viewpoint. i like your musings! Mike

    1. Absolutely! I used to be averse to optimism because I thought it wasn’t practical, but it’s actually the most practical way to be!
