Once I realized the “real world” was largely in my head, it became infinitely easier to interact with the reality of others.

Reality by consent. I got into that with an ex sister in law back about 1974. We weren’t arguing, we were agreeing and laughing about billboards and gravity and the stern ex naval commander father in law pulled over on the highway and threatened to throw us out of car… Leary-esque reality didn’t play well in the land of affluence and God granted realities. But it does make a shit load of sense, as everyone’s reality is their own.

The real world doesn’t exist, the get a “proper” job isn’t fit for purpose, and just serves to increase the insecurity of people who actually have a job.

I would agree that everyone’s reality is true only to them. Sadly, that is what causes most arguments and disagreements, up to and including wars. We are all delusional to an extent.

Yes very good point we all have something called unconscious bias, which is based on our values and culture. Accepting there are more than one correct viewpoint is very important. And I think every condition is a point on a spectrum. Just a more extreme position for some people …
