Season’s Greetings, my fellow degenerates! I’ll be taking a break from musings and ads until tomorrow. I hope you all are enjoying Christmas! Here’s a short snippet about the origins of this festive holiday:
For those of you who didn’t know, much of Christmas was shaped by Europian and Asiatic Shamans who would dress up in special red-and-white garments and harvest a red-and-white psychedelic mushroom called the amanita muscaria. They’d enter a yurt through the smoke-hole (chimney) and administer the shroom to members of their tribe. The ensuing trip would either be a “present” or “coal” depending on the quality of that person’s moral fiber. (Santa will know if you’ve been naughty or nice…)
Amanita muscaria—one of the most beautiful, colorful mushrooms to occur in nature—has a special, symbiotic relationship with certain types of pine trees. This relationship inspired the tradition of placing colorful ornaments onto the branches of a tree.
Reindeer also happen to love eating these mushrooms and tripping balls. Because an amanita trip will often induce the experience of flying, amanita muscaria mushrooms inspired the idea of flying reindeer.
SOOooo…QUIT WORSHIPPING PAGAN PSYCHEDELICS, YOU TERRORIST HIPPIES! DOESN’T MATTER IF STUDIES HAVE PROVEN THEY INDUCE NEUROGENESIS, CREATIVITY, AND MAKE FOR A KINDER AND MORE COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE!
Merry Christmas! 🙂 🙂 😀
Merry Christmas to you!

Ha! I’ve also heard they go nuts drinking their own piss after they eat em, as that concentrates the psychoactive compound and amplifies the trip.

Back in 2013, I posted a photo and a story about a mushroom that was growing in my backyard (in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg Virginia). It was early autumn 2012 when I noticed it growing on the edge of a little forest of pine trees….in the shade of a river birch tree. The mushroom was so beautiful and unlike any other I had seen. After I took the photo, I spent a few hours on the internet researching and realized–it was the Amanita Muscaria. Here is the link to my close-up photo of the ‘magic shroom’ : https://storieswithnobooks.com/2013/03/15/mushroom-in-the-woods/

Whoa! This is awesome! It doesn’t look like the stereotypical Amanita, but it’s still beautiful. 🙂
