Musings

I have a ton of faults.ย  Left to my own devices, I become angry and vengeful, and thatโ€™s just the tip of the iceberg.ย  But when I freely admit my problems, I find I’m able to channel them, as well as put controls in place where they become minor irritations, non-issues, orโ€”best case scenarioโ€”tools that help me out.ย  The better I get at this, the more Iโ€™m able to fool people into thinking Iโ€™m a โ€œgood guy.โ€

I guess it doesnโ€™t matter, because in the end, for all intents and purposes, I have found ways to act and behave exactly like one.

I find that true …. When I admit to what’s going on, I find ways to cope with it. Yesterday morning I felt depressed and I thought “I’m going to write down everything and everyone that’s bothering me and I did. And then I felt better as soon as I finished. I hadn’t even come up with the ideas of what to do about these things, but I felt better .

  2. I believe that accepting who we are as we are is an important first step. Then we can choose how we want to be our highest and best self with what we have to work with. We take responsibility for our mis-steps, and accept that we are human and bound to falter at times. We don’t beat ourselves up, ’cause that’s not loving ourselves. We were designed in love to fail forward.

All parts of us serve some purpose, and where and when they Don’t serve us, we love and acknowledge them anyway. Soon, only the best parts of us show themselves most often. The others lay in quiet repose because all parts of us want our highest and best!

  3. I am the same exact way. Because I am able to self evaluate effectively, I really hate when people think I walk around not knowing I can be a little rough. I am not perfect, but if they only knew how much of my behavior and speech is regulated. I remember telling a friend, people think I say the first thing that comes to mind and they don’t understand what I say is filtered. I am always willing to admit my mistakes and issues. I hate admitting I made a mistake or I have an issue, but I would hate it more if I have to admit it to someone who points it out to me. And when I admit it to myself I can’t get it out of my head so I have to do something about it.

    1. Exactly! Your paralleling what C.S. Lewis said: “If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.”

That’s a great quote do you remember which book it’s from?

      2. I’m not sure…I actually heard someone quote him on a podcast (can’t remember which one at the moment). It might have not been from a book. ๐Ÿ™‚
