The way I see it, failure offers me two options: ineffective assessment/action, or effective assessment/action. The first option will cause me to wallow in ignorance and perpetuate faulty programming. The second option will, at the very least, increase my awareness by showing me where things went wrong. Best case scenario, it will gift me with future victories.

Do you know at the outset whether an assessment/action will be effective or not?

Of course, the trick is to recognize the difference. I guess that’s where learning from past failures comes into play, as well as recognizing when you need to seek out the advice of others who have more experience.
Examining our failures and admitting our ignorance are two difficult tasks for many people (myself included) to do on a daily basis, but I totally agree with this assessment. There’s no sense wasting your time spinning on the hamster wheel and getting nowhere. In that case, you might as well just kick your feet up, pour yourself a drink, and relax into a good book, because at least you’ll be enjoying yourself and reading is good for you. 😁-
Indeed! Being honest about what I’m really trying to do is how I can make decisions like that without feeling guilty. 🙂
