You’ll make mistakes and so will your enemies. I believe that to benefit from these mistakes, one should refrain from vilifying oneself AND their enemies—even when it’s your job to hurt them—because vilification interferes with the ability to perceive nuance.
And once you can navigate nuance, you become more capable, more formidable, and you will have no enemies; you will only have teachers.
True! That is definitely something to muse over, and oftentimes I think we’re the most critical of ourselves.
I’ve also heard that if you focus on improving yourself each day, rather than focusing on the mistakes made by others, you will live a happier life. What do you think?

I think sometimes, improving means focusing on others’ mistakes. The fallacy lies in wallowing in subjective judgments of worth. My aim is effectiveness, rather than showing I’m “better” than others.

A much healthier approach than;
“YOU make mistakes.
I was let down by others”

Indeed! I could either fume and rail against someone who’s “bad…” or I could get to work solving the problem.

Someone very perceptively said
‘It is better to light a single candle than curse the darkness”

There’s always darkness to curse. Why stress over it, right? Better to make a game out of it and really appreciate those moments of warmth and light.
