I believe the relative idea of “success” is defined by how fast I can use critical thinking and creative daring (and of course The Basics like discipline, effort, and attention to detail) to outpace the forces of entropy.

      • I do! There have been time in my life where I like to indulge the belief that I’m cultivating the Force but honestly I don’t really care anymore, LOL! I know empirical studies have said that meditation grows the frontal lobe, so if you put a gun to my head, I guess that’s the reason I’d state for doing it.

      • I started with music, but after a while I was able to hit the zone with just silence. But I don’t live near traffic anymore, so that may have something to do with it. Also it makes me feel like weight is dropping away from my head, if that makes any sense. The funny thing is, I don’t even notice the weight until I meditate, but it’s definitely there; I can definitely feel the difference in stress levels over time.

      • True! 🙂 I wish I could learn to meditate silently without any music. That would be a good goal but I still don’t meditate as often as I should. So I need to work my way up. 🙂 For one year I lived near an Amtrak crossing, so the train went of every 30 minutes that lasted for a minute of horns. It was so annoying. There was no way I could meditate that time. So I understand your concern with traffic noise. Thank goodness, I live an apartment complex by a quiet street. Need to pull out that Enya CD again. 🙂

      • I feel ya! Music is a godsend, especially when all you can do is grab a few minutes in your car. This may or may not happen to you, but I found that after a while, I was able to meditate to things I previously found annoying: stupid people’s laughter, car horns, people next door having sex…it’s weird, but if you hit the zone, you can meditate on anything, really (at least for me, anyway. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it definitely happens more as I practice more)

      • Yes, so true DirtySciFiBuddha! 😀But I know I couldn’t meditate quite yet to any of those noises you have mentioned above. One time I meditated and a car alarm went off outside, man, I wish in a deep spiritual meditation and suddenly got awoken. But good idea and practice though! 😀

      • Haha, yes. 🙂 And now everyone is probably on their phones playing their own music or games, taking you away from the sound of the meditative waves. lol. Call me a Debbie Downer. lol. I still find it relaxing though but it’s sure crowded more and more.

  2. I’ve always come across, in my research and random readings, the idea of success being linked to ‘time to first execution’ in regards to any idea, task or objective.

    This is the first time I’ve seen it combined with the idea to outpace forces of Entropy.

    Interesting way to start the day. Thanks for that.

  3. Wow, you really know how to make one have to think don’t you. (and go straight to google). Ahhh and then it was deciphering what Google had to say….lol. Haven’t been using my brain much lately and you have read so you know why. Good to get away into other peoples “Musings” for a change and I certainly picked a doozie to start with or really I guess you picked me because I really checked you out to say thank you for liking my recent posts. I’ll be coming back.
