Society will make pressing arguments:  Settle.  Conform.  Avoid risk like it’s the plague.   But if you’re a writer (or any kind of artist), the arguments you make will be AGAINST inertia.  Your cover, your opening line…everything up to the last character on the last page will be an invitation to dream, to cheer, and to travel into strange lands.  

IMHO, an artist must, on a regular basis, push themselves through their Work.  And I hope that by ditching MY inertia, I’m inviting others to ditch theirs—in the dreams of their creations, and in life as well.

    Often we forget, well I forget, to just f*cking create and stop polishing what’s behind me that is waiting for me to finish the story at my fingertips. And to forge on into others. Done is done, bake the cake. Leave it in the oven too long and it’s inedible. Like smores. I’ve never had a perfect one, but I’ve had a lot of good ones. And a few burnt ones and they are the pits. So…

      Indeed. I carry my military mentality with me on this issue in the concept that I’ll never have 100% of the info, I will never have a 100% ideal situation, but if you don’t take action at some point, then the opportunity will be lost entirely. Best is the enemy of good
