Self-mastery—IMHO—isn’t the occasional, glory-eliciting burst of effort, it is the ability to consistently apply yourself, to live in a way where you never dull and constantly sharpen. Applying yourself isn’t some inspiration-fueled sprint; it’s a way of life—a way of BEING.

Right on. It’s not measure by what you do when all is well and you’re in a good mood. It’s defined by what you choose to do when you’re run down and not feeling it.
Good stuff, Dirty Brahdaman.

This is very true as what you do as a habit becomes the precursor to what you get in the future

Yes, It is all in the striving, the overcoming of obstacles, that I find brings self-mastery. It is in the continuous application of observation thereby reaching more degrees of certainty with life itself. Thanks for your musings, dirtyscifibuddha, well said.
