Structure that is implemented for the sole purpose of sheepish adoration and blind perpetuation is toxic garbage…the highest purpose of structure is to direct attention to [that] which is BEYOND structure or fluidity.
It is not a prison to trap us through worship, but a solid weave of adjustable footholds that enables us to climb.
That’s true if you’re looking at individual snapshots in time. But over the span of time, an optimal structure should change to fit the circumstance, as change is the only constant. 😉
Since we are pursuing a deeper understanding of truth, I’d go a level deeper; to our human perceptions, change most often occurs within a limited variance. When you stretch time out, examine its malleability in the face of cosmic and quantum phenomena, then change itself becomes a questionable thing, as time becomes to appear less and less adherent to strict linearity. How do we know for sure that everything wasn’t created a fraction of a second ago, all evidence of a past already intact? So in the inevitable course of having to change as we come to know more, my core philosophy springs from a bent towards adaptability and openness. 😉 Assuming that a structure is optimal has led many an idealogue to erroneous thinking.

An optimal structure that needed no change would surely be an end to progress and thus only existing briefly before a new level was reached and change would again be beneficial, until heaven/Nirvana/Oneness is achieved.
You’re right, anything is possible. Perhaps there is an optimal structure out there…all I can say is through my meditations, I’ve had an experience that can be chalked up as nothing more than an unprovable anecdote. And what I saw was that existence is comprised only of dreams, laughter and love…and there is no true cause and effect, that time is indeed simultaneous (science does seem to lean toward the malleability of time, especially with gravity and speed as a factor), and that our only real choice as far as free will is concerned is too rejoice in the face of this or not…but that we are loved regardless of our choice. But either of us are far, far from proving any specificity within our theories…I can only state that I believe that as much chaos and suffering as there currently is, we are, do, and create the ideal structure. You’re right in my need to refute the idea or phrase…once again what I have felt/seen is only diluted as words or concepts. It is so all-encompassing it only begins to make sense when it’s spoken of in those really annoying paradoxes you hear from Yoda and his cohorts. But the bottom line is, I can’t prove any of it, and I wish you the best in your journey towards having the best experience possible within this lifetime. 😉

Why not indeed, right? All I can say is that I believe that intuition is there for a reason, and the indulgence of ego can be just as much in charity as it is in war. Either way, if I do indeed feel my gut telling you to give you all my money, I may do so one day. And in fact, there are a few people who have felt that urge and followed through on it. I also have wandered into a warzone, and there are also some people who feel the urge to work in those areas. I also believe that you can kill someone while loving them, which is a bit of an unexplored theme outside of Ender’s Game and the Bhaghavad Gita, but no theory is truly provable, right? So perhaps unless that urge is an overwhelming one, it should be carefully examined before following through on it. I hope that someone does give you what you want Louis: money, romance, and whatever else. 🙂

Haha! Well it does become extremely subjective, doesn’t it? Perhaps everything IS provable. Indeed, I think the only common point our debate finds on that subject is that we both agree that whether it is or it isn’t in the ultimate sense, that right now it is not, for lack of resources…or perhaps other reasons. But for now, no, no theory is provable given our lack of resources. And yep, life does suck, but life is also enjoyable! I find that seeing all the horrid shit deepens my enjoyment of whatever weird forces drive into existence both the “horrid” AND the “beautiful.” I’m not sure whether my painting a picture of life is pretty or not, honestly. I do know that it’s the result of trying to channel a clear a picture as possible through the lens I currently view the world with at the moment. I’m sorry that you feel so challenged and frustrated with others, and I’m doubly sorry if my approach is one that you look down on as useless or irresponsible, but hey, to each their own, right? And once again, best of luck to you, buddy! In all likelihood we’re both dead in a few years/months/days anyways, right? And if we strip away our human perception of time, then we’re ALREADY dead! 🙂 Man, I hope that whatever you do, you hit it out of the park! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well therein lies a slippery slope, because all people’s definition of correctly influencing others becomes extremely subjective. And who’s to say that we influence some and not others through a video game, a movie, or what have you? How would you come up with a metric or criteria to gauge how well your influence adheres to who’s definition of “correct?” Common sense is not always a common thing, and sometimes there are no choices but bad ones. I’d say I’m being as honest as possible in (hopefully) the best way I know how. If that falls short of your criteria of “correct,” then I guess we’ll chalk that up to the mystery of why we were born with different experiences that create different perspectives. But perhaps I SHOULD give you that money…provided you only engage with the most upstanding prostitutes, in the most correct, polite, and impeccable manner possible with your chosen companion, haha!

Once again, (and not simply being contrarian here, but as we are genuinely laying our unresolvable philosophies side-by-side) I disagree. Basic reasoning is an ill-defined and nebulous concept. Indeed, in matters of survival, it is important to be able to act without thinking. Check out Rory Miller’s Meditations On Violence, where he says that constant disorientation occurs from a series of changing attacks. The way to counter this is to go on the offensive as soon as you are hurt; this is called “operant conditioning.” Something similar exists in the military in the form of Immediate Action Drills. It is important to immediately establish aggression and the weight of momentum in certain scenarios. There is a saying that you only ever have 80% of the knowledge before your opportunity to manifest a result completely escapes. I’d say there’s basic reasoning for finance, basic reasoning for ambushes, basic reasoning for government initiatives…it is important to stay open and always be aware of a changing context.

Well once again, what is “ill-conceived?” In the military, tactics and strategy are constantly fail to come thru due to leaders thinking as if they are fighting the last war. I think this applies to business and other areas as well; evidence is definitely a guide, but not gospel.
