Even though we must sometimes oppose each other, what does it hurt to genuinely wish the best for everyone?  Rather than hope for someone’s suffering, this view—even from a selfish standpoint—provides the most reward for me, as I don’t have to maintain those exhausting stores of malice.  Though circumstance may dictate that I destroy or hurt people (and in that case I’ll tap that monstrous but natural part of myself that society falsely labels as ugly) I feel that to wish someone the best is an easily given thing, one that provides infinite returns.

  1. Malice best destroys the soul that contains it, I think.

  3. It’s like with religion. I’m not going to force others to walk my path. Instead, when we cross paths, I want to help them along their path. Our paths may cross, they may run together for a time and then separate, but helping each other brings out the very best qualities within us.

    1. Sometimes helping people means destroying/injuring them, but yes, I think we can still wish the ultimate best for them.

  5. Practice makes you perfect. The first time your ego fights you then slowly it is dissolved away by the conscious act of love. It is a relief to let go of ego’s stories. ❤️❤️👿❤️❤️❤️

    1. Totally agree. And then there’s that feeling of dumbfoundedness when I realize that “ego” was never this separate demon, just a part of me that I’d let run amuck.

      1. Exactly – just everything is something we need or created by those thoughts and words.

      2. Too true. There is a reason we separated in the first place from something greater

  6. It takes a real effort to open your mind to accepting others. We’re just hardwired to be tribalists.

    1. It’s definitely an evolutionary advantage concerning our ancestors, but as we keep evolving, advantage skews to new, nobler ways of thinking (IMHO)
