Personally, I believe the key to writing is being as brutally honest with myself as possible, and channeling that into my story. While writing may be a world of make-believe and fantasticality, it’s only palatable if it’s flavored with truth.

True – if truth is lacking , then the reader will not be able to believe in your text. Readers place themselves in your world and expect to apply common sense and prior knowEdge of how worlds and relationships work. If it is missing they will struggle and discard your writing as too difficult to imagine.

Yep. As I was watching the new Mad Max I realized as insane as it was, there was an underlying structure to all their actions. Everything the characters did they believed in it for a reason that made sense to them, if not to us, and I think all characters should follow suit, because that’s how the audience can forgive something crazy-seeming.

So very true. I always try and write from the heart, that and an element of truth makes the reader able to relate.
