I love some of the classics that I’ve read in school.  But IMHO, rather than slavish devotion to “the greats,” it is more important to be influenced by what you ENJOY.

Tarantino knows what I’m talking about.

  1. I’ve never been into reading, but I’ve tried to read the masterpieces.

  2. I agree
While cleaning I still wax on and wax off like karate kid!
seriously though Frodo’s courage made me believe I can do great things – power to me at 5 feet 2 inches.

    1. Love me some LOTR, and I’m also just as psyched to see some goofiness a la Kung Fury! Whatever floats your boat!

      1. PRECIOUS…

Totally agree – I love some of the “greats,” others bore me to tears.

    1. James Joyce hurts my will to live, haha!

  4. Indeed he does! I agree!

  5. I went back and tried to read some of the classics I struggled through in high school. So far, Ethan Fromme – better than when I first read it, but it’s like a romance novel with Puritans. Heart of Darkness – still hate it. It’s depressing and the point of view is confusing. It’s a story about a guy told by another guy through the eyes of another guy.

    1. Haha! Sounds like a crazy valley girl: “So my friend who’s friends with so and so, she says that so and so said this…”
