If our environment never changed and we lived forever, perseverance alone would be enough.  Unfortunately, that’s not the case.  Urgency and daring must underscore our efforts.  I think Macarthur expressed it best when he said that failure can be summed up in two words:  Too late.

  2. You are right. I am 82 and still trying. My motto is: It’s never too late.

    1. Sometimes I feel old having lived some dog years in the military, but you definitely motivate me with your attitude! 🙂

  3. Imagine if life was about perseverance and living in utopia there would be not point to appearing. It would a long soap of boredom. Yes urgency ad daring is required even if the environment was a certainty

    1. Good point! Even if we advance at the speed of entropy, in the relative sense that’s just standing still.

      1. Do You think one day our consciousness will one day say the human form is parse? And find a form where time does not exist?
        A little out there perhaps

      2. I believe so. I don’t think the idea is that far out there when you consider the scope of time. In a few million years, humans for sure will evolve, and if you keep considering grander scales of time, then that possibility becomes more likely, I believe.

      3. A clever answer which I had to think about.
The words human evolve set me spiralling in another direction.
Our own lights are independent of the human body so why worry about evolving as humans? Humans will always be about being an individual and not a part of something greater.
I think we already know so much more than the parameters of our human brain can contain and cope with. It’s like new software running on an out dated operating system so the functionality of the software is severely reduced. Perhaps we need another operating system – different from a human body. Thus discarding the label human.
Perhaps our consciousness or the seed of life should not be determined by the container we are in. To me,that’s all a human body is.
Just think or don’t – I think – I am rambling or unravelling.

Time for you to write another one of your musings and me to reboot.

      4. Haha, thanks! I like the theory that perhaps we are destined to ‘play god’ in our creation of artificial intelligence, but we are challenged with being worthy of such a role. In other words, become worthy of the destiny we are assigned.

      5. And that is the crux
Of it… We have to rise to the occasion because there are no steps leading back to where we came from.

      6. Or…we have to rise to the occasion because the tide might sweep us back and we have to do it all over again! Blegh! 🙂

      7. Somehow you made it circular except that it is already proved
        That we go
        Backwards every
2000 years- this time though we
Have messed with the land we would have ploughed.

      8. I suspect it is circular…I also suspect that we are given lifetimes too short to fully perceive that it is for a deliberate reason. But…who’s to say, haha! I could be a brain floating in a vat right now! 🙂

      9. Exactly – a life
Time is a speck of time and so short. Let’s hope it’s not in a vat of oil. Heehee! So you really follow Buddhism and for some time…

      10. Well I like to imagine that they all are the same at their core, that if a true Buddha came along he/she would be revered by the for real aspirants of any faith who recognize what is behind the word “Buddha” or “Prophet” or “Christ” take your pick… 🙂

  6. I just call it consciousness … I feel despite the televised pain that are so many more people who are conscious thinkers than ever before who like you have understood the core of all that has been taught and read before. My heaven is on earth and I don’t believe in hell because if I did I’m sure it would be found here too.

    1. Nail on the head! What is hell but our willing denial of an all-pervasive heaven? Self-created, in a nutshell…

      2. Thank you but I can’t claim anything so noble. I thank the military actually, for giving me an environment to plumb deeper depths of myself!
