Echo-A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel: News/Synopsis

Update on Echo-Word Count:  54146

News:  Plinking away, sometimes the words come fast and sometimes they require consideration.  In the past I used to get writer’s block, which prevented me from drafting anything more than an intro or a few pages, but I find that that’s not a problem anymore.  I suspect it’s because I have made an effort to learn the structure of how stories are woven around events and actions.  Instead of asking, “what would fit?”  Now it’s, “According to the themes, x y and z would fit, but which would BEST fit?”  I am consistently getting new reads and positive feedback, despite the violence and language, so I’m hoping that readers can intuit there is an underlying reason for what I’m drafting.  I am immensely, IMMENSELY grateful for all your support, and while I would keep going without it, it makes things much more rewarding; I feel blessed that I am able to entertain a few of you (and also that you guys stick with me through growing pains as a first-time fiction writer), so Thanks!  To all you writers, I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!

Synopsis: It has been over a thousand years since humanity has left Earth to settle off-world on Echo. For almost that entire time, an age of darkness and oppression has ensued. Military and police have merged into the Department of Enforcement. Government and corporations have merged into the Regime. Little progress has been made except in the area of weapons technology. Echo’s only hope resides in one man, Atriya, a bitter and crippled former Enforcer. But before he can break the cycle of ignorance for Echo, he must first do it within himself.
