Word count today: 40163. For those reading chapter 1, THANK YOU!!! As I read it again I saw little things here and there that bugged me, but I resisted making huge changes because I felt that as rough as it was, the general wording had an energy and drawing-the-reader-in quality I didn’t want to mess with. The content…I hope it wasn’t offensive. When I write things that are on the extreme side of things I try to be extra careful they fit the theme, to avoid being gratuitous. (I don’t want to read about people getting peed on! But if it is illustrative of theme and fits the larger story then ok.) The prose, as alluded to before, is rough. But as I edit future chapters I see it smoothing. Much like Atriya, my prose is making the evolution from ignorant to aware. From rough to refined…haha, I hope! I’ll leave that for you to judge as more chapters get posted. I plan on posting 2 on Wednesday, July 1. I’ll work hard to try and keep the readability, entertainment, and storytelling up to snuff! Thanks again for reading chapter 1 and the positive feedback!
Synopsis: Echo is a novel about a scifi dystopia. 1200 years after leaving Earth, sometime in the 21st century, humanity settled on the planet Echo. Instead of pushing forward into an age of opportunity and utopia, they fell backwards into darkness and oppression. Governments and corporations have merged into the oppressive Regime. Police and military have merged into the Department of Enforcement. One man-Atriya-a former Enforcer, becomes bitter and crippled. Only he has the power to break Echo’s cycle of darkness and ignorance. Before he can do that though, he must break the cycle within himself.
