Being prized for your competence—being asked to demonstrate a given skill again and again and being well-compensated for it—is the ultimate compliment, but when faced with someone who feels threatened by your aptitude, someone who turns their nose up at you no matter how good you are, the ultimate revenge is to not lash out at them.

The ultimate revenge is to go somewhere else, and be instantly appreciated for your obvious proficiency.

  2. I have lived that experience a few times in my life. It’s bitter sweet in some cases, but it is a compliment. Now about that compensation part… 😉

  5. No all responses are lashes. One can ask questions and make invitations in a public fashion that leave critics exposed for their empty motives and inferior skills. Truly, competence as you describe it is mastery. Many can attend mastery without the master having to move away. Those who disdain will quickly be seen for what they are, especially if they are asked to equal or surpass the master in their art.
