Musings

Striving to do my best and adjusting my strategy to be as effective as possible is more than just practical; Iโ€™d go so far as to say itโ€™s spiritual.ย  In striving to do my best, Iโ€”by necessityโ€”reduce egoic considerations of self.ย  In seeking to adopt the most effective strategy, I sharpen my perception of myself and the world.

The rest of the stuffโ€”the books, the psychedelics, the meditation, the rituals, the philosophyโ€”seem like icing on the cake.ย  If they assist me in doing my best and streamlining my approach, then great.ย  If not, then itโ€™s time to set them aside and focus on the basics:ย  discipline, focus, and strategy.

  1. I agree, the basics approached in a spiritual sense often lead to transcendence…or kabooms…either way, all good ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. sounds like you have process and perspective mastered; what is left is purpose. A friend once wisely suggested, “things not worth doing are not worth doing well.” I mean, choosing what you want and when are even more important than process.

A well chosen purpose, even done ineptly, is better than a masterly poor choice. You seem to know what satisfies you, so that should not be a problem. Do you have any thoughts on choosing purpose and priorities?

    1. Purpose from what I’ve seen is garnered by listening astutely to the clues I’m provided. Right now, I have a lot of books in my head I need to get onto the page. One of my purposes is refining process and perspective to better serve my other purposes, so I wouldn’t say I have process and perspective mastered.

      1. priorities come in two flavors: important and urgent. even trivial matters can become urgent priorities from neglect or procrastination.

      2. I agree, but I don’t see what that has to do with purpose, other than making sure the small things are taken care of so you can focus on what you want to.

      3. One thing you might notice among masters, is that all their tools and materials are put away where they are ready at any moment.

      4. This may sound weird, but I don’t really care about being a master. I just want to do the best I can with what I have, and enjoy the process.
