That discipline that infuriates you? That nettles your mind and makes you feel like screaming in rage? If you endure it, then you will become more flexible, and more able to endure your cravings.
So the choice becomes simple: the initial rankling that comes from discipline, or the eternal powerlessness that arises from craving.
It feels more like the insertion of a needle to me, that ability to endure my own cravings and desires without giving in. It’s the sort of pain you can get used to, overtime, but it always feel foreign and alarming. I’m not the least disciplined person I know, but my nature is incredibly unruly.

A great advantage, I’m sure, when you channel that unruliness. Most pioneers, I feel, aren’t the most conventional type of person.
