Interesting simile! We as Americans have that strong tendency to overindulge in things (food, alcohol, work, drugs) that a huge boil is created at the end. It may look gross, but we get so much satisfaction by continuing to indulge.

Indeed! For some, the scale becomes tipped, and the indulgence becomes unsatisfactory. I count those people among the lucky!
