Musings

I’ve seen meditation/psychedelics/positive thinking/logic/etc fail to carry people. ย IMHO, if life is athletics, these are all separate elements that can enhance your game. Conditioning, good diet, good recovery. But you can’t rely on any one thing to carry you without theย basic skill workโ€”honesty/accountability with oneself, courage to push outside comfort, and of course: ย DISCIPLINE. ย The other stuff is like steroids/supplements/fancy programs. ย It’s great if you find the right mix for you, but it doesn’t change the fact that you gotta get in the mud and prove that it all works together.

  1. Well said. Almost every challenge in life requires an eclectic solution.

    1. Good point on “almost!” Sometimes we try and reinvent the wheel for that ego rush.

    1. Hahaha, Thanks Bunches Pythia! I love your kindness…but ironically, if I wallow in it, I can see myself lapping up the egoic payoff and turning into a loon that rants about his “greatness,” haha! But that’s entirely on me. YOU are being kind and I’m overthinking it and I should just shut up and appreciate it for what it’s worth. Thank You!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I just don’t understand how people can fall for “The Secret.” Positive thinking can lead to failure because not everything can happen like you want it to.

    1. I think of it like one element on the chess board; whether positive thinking actually warps reality or not, the placebo effect is powerful and can work “miracles.” So at the very least, I go for the placebo effect, hahaha! But yeah, people who do not scaffold that element with the foundations of consistency and discipline are bound for disappointment.

Hi there! I love your ‘musings’ section! Your thoughts are always concise and precise and it gives me a lot to think about during my day or just it’s nice reading it. It’s much better than reading trivial posts. So thank you. And I might just do something similar on my blog cuz I have so much to say sometimes and I feel obligated to make it into a big long post. But this is great! you have me inspired me ๐Ÿ™‚

you are obviously right here! I have met lots people who think excelling in just one field should be enough and when it doesn’t work for them any longer, they simply give up. They have to know that looking for jobs Only on Linkedin isn’t enough or just being a good at one language doesn’t mean the other language will be easy to learn!

    1. Good example! And how boring would it be if that were the case, anyways? The whole world would be quickly mastered and offer no novelty. ๐Ÿ˜‰
