Sometimes, becoming stronger entails purposefully becoming worse so you can set aside talents and struggle to conquer weakness. Focus is shifted from successful comfort to audacious evolution.
In this way, an inner pilgrimage can be made without outwardly having to take a single step.
Reblogged this on Musket and Magic and commented:
What was it that Teddy Roosevelt said? The “strenuous life” makes us better?
Our inborn talents do not define us. We define ourselves by what we make of them. Weaknesses are not merely something to be coped with, but a factor of our being that we can change, through faith and perseverance.
Also, this guy has a novel. Highly recommended.

Believe it or not, I text ’em to myself at stoplights and think of em in the shower. I used to have to sit down and scratch em out, but after a bit of practice, I just observe life and try to condense it. Thanks! 🙂

So you are looking at your shadow huh? You are stepping into the dark shadows where you have hidden all abstract things like weaknesses, bitter truths that you don’t want to face and fear beliefs. (I’m a Tim Burton fan) Remember these things when pushed into a pool of light are vaporised. I myself, have made my weaknesses into an art form that people shake their head at but my worst fear is nothing important like losing my income or such… its the fear of coming across buttons not attached securely to clothes. Carolina was a real nightmare to watch.

Yep, the shadow’s there to be looked at! Otherwise we never know where to shine that light!

I like this. It is exactly what I need to do after a rather distasteful event today. Thank you for reminding me how to handle disappointment, adversity, and betrayal.

No Problem! And in the grandiose view, I honestly think without those things, we would suffer immensely in the deepest sense. Also—there’s a reason things—even ourselves—are temporary! None of that bad stuff is eternal! 🙂
