Given the dual-premise that all actions have a subtle effect and that we are interconnected, wishing everyone to ultimately experience what is best for them is doing the same for yourself.
But the wish must be genuine and not a self-serving platitude; that’s why it’s important to strip away ego and ignorance. To keep it real.
I like the 1st paragraph of this as it cites what I already believe. Although, I turn it to the self rather than wishing it on others. Doing what is best for your own experience is the same as wishing well the experience of others. Many insightful people have said that change begins with the individual. And I never been a fan of a closet society that fears being themselves simply for the comfort of others.
I agree with your point of view—that some people must start change at the individual level. However, I’d add a clarification (I’m pretty sure you implied it anyway) to your premise “that doing what is best for your own experience is the same as wishing well the experience of others.” This premise has to be preceded by the acknowledgement that we share an interconnectivity with others, if it is preceded by a premise that we are separate then it doesn’t work. But words are clumsy aren’t they? I’d venture to say that the same noble intent informs both of our opinions and the way they are expressed. Good luck on your journeys, Walter! 🙂
