Those who seek the transcendent will endeavor to observe the common thread between times, people, and every imaginable separation.  Not only that, they will seek to make their knowledge an organic, functional thing.  Others will wallow in the divide, or that gilded cage where they can see what is transcendent yet never have to apply it.  

Either way is fine.  The first way, though, is ultimately less painful (IMHO).
