I have seen others get by-and do well-with strong convictions and a limited perspective. (Un?)fortunately for me, I was unable to do so, and had my eyes forcibly and painfully opened to some of the lies I was telling myself. I realized that it is easy to cling to ideals without fully immersing oneself in the heart breaking horror and soul singing glory that comes with exploring reality.
But I have come to the conclusion that if one sees things fully for what they are, both horrifying and glorious, and STILL chooses to evolve, then one does not simply parrot the ideal. One can become it.
very good words and insight.

I love this and completely agree. It’s easy being ignorant and living in a world where you shelter yourself. But that isn’t living and it is especially difficult to open your eyes to reality. It’s not always pretty and sometimes it’s spectacular, but it is always challenging to take that first step. Wonderfully put!!

Thank You! Yep, easy to cover distance on a high horse, and hard to slog thru it on foot. But you aren’t dependent on the horse. 🙂

Very nice. Personally, I thinks it’s kind of a little bit of both. We have to have our beliefs; but we can’t let them stop us from seeing things the way they are. Because, if we can’t see — we’ll never get past the place we’re presently stuck in. Great post!

Thanks! I agree-beliefs are necessary as a source of fuel, but once they’re shattered, the understandable thing is to be turtle up, but the noble thing is to learn from it and keep going.

Woa!!! Whose picture were you shooting when you wrote that. WHAM BAM!!!! ( a motivational guru I guess😈)
Man the conclusion is great and said with immense heartfelt emotion.
In the first two lines the answer of why it didn’t work is flickering in neon lights – You didn’t feel your words.
DSFB when you had the ideal in your head there was no emotion associated with it. Passions of hate or absolute jubilance is what you need to rev up life. No hate I was just thinking of Man City – I’m a Man U born and bred- soccer.
You Suss that of course with your last lines but just to tease and reduce everything once again to what the Beatles said ‘all you need is love…’ And (my bit) gratitude.
Don’t vapourize me… 📡

Haha! No vaporization intended! No, I believe that ideals are necessary-great sources of fuel in the beginning. But when they get shattered, we can either cling to them, become bitter, or learn from the experience and reach a deeper understanding. Thanks for the comment! 🙂

May you one day transcend it! (in a good way, not the involuntary one, haha!)

Thanks for your kind aspiration for me. Let’s hope I get there without an involuntary action… My comments on your future posts might just make the trigger on the cover of Echo vol 1 quiver.

Haha, thanks! At the risk of sounding preachy, I gotta believe that even the involuntary stuff was-at some deep, causal level-an action our spirits chose to undertake. In terms of implication that’s very controversial, but in the end it means we give ourselves exactly what we need. (I hope)

I agree. We are the authors of our own worlds and being to us what we
Subconsciously ask for.
