I’ve had many ask about solutions to writer’s block. I can only speak for myself.
1. I work off themes and how events/characters evolve to reflect ’em. The themes stay constant, so 1st question I ask is what possible events fit the theme?
2. I borrow/steal from great writers who wrote a similar story to mine. After learning Tarantino steals the composition shot-for-shot for some of his scenes from obscure movies, I use this as a tool: Good writers borrow, great writers steal. It also fuels creativity since you’re forced to look harder at what fits your story, and will give you a better shot of getting out of the rut.
That’s all I got. I’ll let you know when I have more.
P.S: ย “Good writers borrow, great writers steal,” is a quote I stole from a greater writer than I.
