I like to move in the direction of my dreams, even if it doesn’t seem to lead to any treasure. I’ve found unexpected rewards along the way. And on multiple occasions, I’ve been given more than I asked for.
Sure, I’ve had to compromise at times—make sure I could pay the rent or deal with obligations—but I suspect that if I pursue my dreams with a clear mind and an open heart, even if it’s just for five minutes a day (which is a situation I’ve found myself in), I’ll tap into a wealth of unforeseen support.
Ditto! It is the pursuit that is more important than a potential reward…rewards are nice, but it is the pursuit where we find our fulfillment. Even if only for five minutes. Bravo!!

For me, specifically, it’s that rush of possibility and purpose that comes with the pursuit. Love that! 😊

Burton Cummings, the great Canadian singer/songwriter who sold more records in the late 60s than the Beatles wanted to be a hockey player until as a goalie he took one over the eye and it made it puck shy. Burt Bacharach picked up a piano gig in the Hamptons as a kid and discovered girls liked piano players just as much as they liked football players, so he quit trying to get himself killed every fall.

Loved it. Also, seeing Death again was awesome. I actually read and reread the novelization for Bogus Journey countless times over when I was a kid.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I never knew there was a novelisation. Mind you it was at the stage when the reason I was watch Bill & Ted was because my kids were watching it, so maybe felt thanks to peer pressure upwards ‘Dad can watch the film, but should not get further involved, like using quotes or do air guitars, that’s our terrain,’
LikeLiked by 1 person
It was just one of those crappy kids’ novelizations, nothing big. But as a kid, it was like watching the movie all over again. Sad to hear you had to air guitar in private, LOL!

I like the “even for five minutes a day” part. I’ve found lately, if I wait until I have hours and hours for my own projects, I never work on them. Five minutes a day at least keeps them moving forward, if slowly.

Absolutely. For me, it also keeps the gears in my brain oiled in regards to writing, which is my way of saying I tend to think of more ideas throughout the day.

Wise words! The rewards are often on the path. And even with just 5 minutes a day, we can engage our minds (and unconscious). Much better than grousing, “But I don’t have the time!” 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
I’m in strong agreement with you on engaging the unconscious. Five minutes may be the surface effort, but I’ve found my mind pieces together parts of the story throughout the day with just five minutes, where it would have completely set the story aside if I did nothing.

Me, too! Sometimes my mind has solved things I didn’t even realize were problems! (In the writing process, I mean. Perhaps in non-writing life, too, I should give the Muse some credit.)

It’s like the process of making art and writing poetry for me. While I’m not rewarded in any financial way, it’s the experience of creativity and the process itself that is rewarding.

I’m in the same boat. And from what I hear, there are successful “creative” folks who are purely driven by the market, always stressing out over whatever people think so they can do well in focus studies and drive up numbers. That’s why I could never be a movie studio executive. 😅

Agreed! I am so glad you are taking at least a little time daily to pursue your dreams! When my old job took up most of my day, I’d get up at 5:00am just to have a little writing time before work. I am not a morning person, but I had to do it to keep myself sane. 🙂

Absolutely. I feel like a lot of people confuse it for settling, but I say keep an open mind as to what doors it may open. Nelson Mandela isn’t perfect, but working with what he had in prison–being nice to the guards, trying to be extra neat–led to some truly unexpected opportunities for him.

I must admit that I like the comments I’m reading. I’ve used meditation as an aid for my writing. I can mentally access information through silence. When I write a scene in a story I mentally feel what needs to enter in my story. I just completed “Victims Make the Best Birdhouses,” my memoir of my struggle with childhood physical and sexual abuse. The writing process seems to be like an open door that widens if you give it a chance. Larry L Franklin

I meditate as well! It’s essential, as far as I’m concerned. My take on what you’re saying is that quieting the conscious mind allows the subconscious to help out and contribute inspiration from unexpected angles, which the conscious mind can then integrate and utilize. As far as the open door that widens, in my opinion that’s spot on!

The teaching of eye house masters, release linguistics which control or delete the type of malevolent and the genuine obstruction in certain communities whose family line really do need to release!
