I suspect we’re all hard workers at our core. Even video game addicts have immense discipline; I personally couldn’t sit for more than 15 minutes playing video games nowadays.
I think we just need to tinker with our focus until our hard work gets channeled into something positive.

You have a good point, Kent. I think everyone can concentrate and work hard if it’s something that interests them.

Very true, like most writers I invest swathes of time when it comes to melding words into paragraphs, chapters and so forth.
When it comes to video games:
After five minutes….
‘Ugh! Evil spirit! Me throw rocks!’ Smash game console! Good!’

I never liked video games but a long time ago when software developers gave musicians access to the MIDI data stream editing was likened to a video game playing seek and destroy for clams, bad timing, weak velocity and uneven, voice stealing durations.
