Musings

I no longer believe in a purely transactional, tit-for-tat existence.  I no longer believe there needs to be a fall before a rise.  Regardless of whatever hardship I’m facing, I believe it is opportunity in an unpleasant costume.  Time has proven this to me over and over again through personal experience.

But I could go back to believing everything has a cost.  And then I would prime my perception to seek out a payment for every good event, no matter how large or small.  I would be caught in an infinite ledger of red and black ink, spending my entire focus on trying to balance an unmeasurable set of scales.  No thanks.

  1. I disagree that there is no cost. There is always a cost. At the very least, time and effort are spent by you to interact with someone or something or do something.
I do agree, though, with abolishing the transactional thought process, in general. I typically don’t look for the payoff/return for my cost in life. The main exception is my job. Is my pay commensurate to the work I do? Pretty much anything else I don’t concern myself with the cost. Like you, I try to see even the negative stuff as some sort of opportunity, even it is only a life lesson. Even then my concern over the cost is minimal at best.

  2. \Wisdom, and or the experiences to gain it, are not a cost equation. Every moment of existence is an investment that can’t be quantified. The journey is free. The education priceless. The experience invaluable. At the very least we learn, get paid or have fun. All for the price of a free ticket.
