For a while, I assumed that life was out to get me. After a lot of disappointment and pain and sacrifice, I decided to let life have its way. If life was going to beat me, then so be it.
A curious thing happened. Once I gave up the fight, the fight lost interest in me. I realized that much of my strife was based on my perception. I saw that I had actually reaped many benefits through my hardship, and that much of it had been a subjective thing.
That’s not to say it wasn’t real. I’ve seen rich people in absolute misery, and poor people in absolute bliss. I’ve also seen it go the other way, in varying degrees and throughout different environments. Whatever someone goes through is real to them.
I can’t say for sure what goes on in another person’s mind, but it seems when people (myself included, of course) give in to the moment and enjoy the next step, they touch upon something transcendent.

I’ve often found that too. If you go with the flow, live in the moment and allow life to happen it all begins to become a lot easier.
too hard often has negative results.

I believe you’re right, Wayne. Fighting only makes it worse. Whatever is happening will come to an end eventually, good or bad alike. Just go with it.

Yep. And keep your eyes open, because when you just go with it, you’re usually more perceptive and some unforeseen opportunity springs up (in my experience, anyway)

Could you repeat that for my teenagers? 🙂 I agree with you. However, as you’ve pointed out, sometimes you just need time to develop such an outlook.

In my opinion, teens are supposed to enjoy figuring that out through trial and error, LOL! What scares me is elderly people who keep entrenching themselves in dysfunctional patterns. The lure of comfort can blind people to fulfillment or harmony, I guess.

You don’t seem to me to be a ‘grunty over-thinker’ not unless I’m a ‘grunty over-understander’. Thanks for your blog.
