In the existential sense, saying one thing matters and another doesn’t is a ridiculous stance; we only have to look up at the stars to realize how small and insignificant we are.

So the real question is, “what is useful and sustainable?”

Thus far, that seems to be the best way to play the game of “human being.”

  1. Yeah, even Einstein and Hawkins felt this way. So don’t despair. And for the question “what is useful and sustainable?”. That would be your contribution to the reservoir of knowledge that advances human (?) civilization as a whole.

  2. I think it behooves us to retain all ideas and knowledge… BUT… taking action on ideas and knowledge that advance and/or sustain human civilization (?) and shelving the rest for “spare time” seems to be a much better approach. Even following that behavior pattern on a smaller scale – individual and/or community – seems a better way to get things done and keep humanity going. The wisdom to make the proper choices on what to act on or shelve, in my opinion, is not as difficult as many make it seem, either. Egos and/or avoiding challenges get in the way more often than not.
