Musings

The press of life will reinforce our habits, whether they’re good or bad.

It may seem annoying to delay short-term gratification and create a foundation of good habits, but in the long run, it keeps you from being weighed down by anchor after anchor, until you’re mindlessly struggling to keep your head above water.  If you invest in good habits, you’ll keep yourself light and lithe, and you’ll have options later down the line.

You’ll be able to surf the tides of fortune.  You’ll also be able to pull up anyone who needs a hand.

  1. If everyone in the US would balance their credit cards instead of maxing them out in order to balance another credit card debt, we can maybe avoid another economical melt down of the system. Perfect example of instant gratification that pulls a whole nation into a monetary black hole by spending money they don’t have and, theoretically, even doesn’t even exist.

  2. Opher instant gratification is even better if it is with a bar of chocolate.
Cryptomathecian, I agree but isn’t money made round to go round? Not sure if applies with credit cards though,

    • Take the US government; They have a debt of 16 TRILLION dollar on which they have to pay 4 billion interest of which they have to borrow 1 billion, thus adding to the debt. In a desperate “money must roll” measure, they can copy the Central European Bank’s policy of negative interest rates where borrowers (just banks and governments, though) get paid for taking a loan and the ordinary customer has to PAY to keep his money on a savings account. How long will it last before people with a considerable saving account will start putting their money in a safe? From there on it’s down the hill.
