  1. When you take into the account the cost it took to have someone do the cover page, the editor, and web specialist who made your book E-book legible, have you recovered your costs in sales? When I think about it, I don’t expect to recover my costs once I finish writing and publishing my story, but I would like your take on it.

    • Yeah I’ve recovered my costs at this point but I’m really just looking to build a portfolio and get it out. If the money comes, then fine, but for me it’s more practical in the long run and more gratifying to just focus on doing the work and getting it out. Andy Weir made his fortune on the Martian by giving it away for free for a while and then for $0.99.

      • That makes sense. As long as the content is good to read and it continues to get recommended, a free model help builds a portfolio. I am kinda doing the same thing by attempting to attract readers as I write my story. Hopefully, at least one person will buy my final work.
