SIMOLEONS!!!  The Amaze-O Matthew Brunson has gifted Echo Volume 1 with a 5-star review on Amazon!  I can’t thank you enough Mr. Brunson; positive Amazon reviews mean the WORLD to us indie authors!  Thank You So Much and I hope the rest of Echo doesn’t disappoint!  🙂 🙂 🙂

Here’s the review:  “I’ll be completely honest. I didn’t want to like this book at first. I have a new policy, however, of finishing books I start, as I have found that some books do indeed come into their own and “click” with me after a few chapters of a “learning curve” for my first reading of a particular author or book. As to why I didn’t want to initially like the book: it opens with military training and brings you into a world of a military mindset, which in and of itself is not bad but which isn’t quite my cup of tea. By the end of Chapter 5, however, I was hooked. The difference between a metric ton of “sci-fi military” on offer out there and Mr. Wayne’s attempt, is that Wayne’s military background and experience very clearly show through here, injecting his terse, lean prose with an authenticity that is quite refreshing in the genre. So, yes, by the end of a particularly compelling hand-to-hand melee scene in Chapter 5, I was hooked into pressing on, and HOLY COW am I glad I did! This is a world as well thought-out as it is implemented, its factions and forces and religions and philosophies firmly in place. It’s like… how best to describe it? Take that Judge Dredd vibe, but strip out all the comic book extravagance and replace it with a toned-down but far more gritty realism… and that’s Echo. By the end of this volume, thankfully just the first (meaning I still have two-thirds of the awesomeness to look forward to), I feel like I know Atriya… his mental faculties and his reasonings, his self-doubts and his odd (for the presented society) urge to question everything around him and within him, including his own strengths and shortcomings. I’m an Echo fan now, as well as a Kent Wayne fan, and I can hardly wait to plunge into the 2nd and 3rd books of the series. Mr. Wayne, might there be more to come? Here’s hoping….”
