The other day I was wondering: What is this obsession with acquiring and hoarding brand names?
Instead of pining after brands, why not become one?

Actually, the idea of branding yourself isn’t unheard of. There’s even a business called “BrandYourself” which is an Online Reputation Management company helping businesses and individuals outrank negative search results with their own content and websites.

That’s awesome! I am all about the shifting of focus from consuming to producing!

Yep! Sometimes its warranted, but brand appreciation at the expense of functionality or producing your own stuff seems like a dangerous trap to me.

You are so right. One time I used to ‘collect’ labels of whatever brand i wore, from perfume to clothes to shoes. I had to ask myself if I could sell all that paper… I threw them away and I felt better. On to making me a brand

Right on! I am not averse to nice meals or clothes or whatnot, but as soon as they interfere with my life or I have to sacrifice other expenditures so that I can buy luxuries, I try to be know whether it’s an indulgence or not, and if it is, to REALLY enjoy it and not just have it be an addiction. 🙂

Well, I think that they’d THINK that their lives would be over, but I’m just indulging in semantics, yes I see your point! 🙂
